According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/bryanrobinson\/2020\/08\/22\/upsurge-in-depression-and-suicide-among-american-workers-during-the-pandemic-and-what-needs-to-be-done\/#7cc419d0db53\">TotalBrain&#8217;s Mental Health Index<\/a>, the <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">risk for depression among U.S. workers has risen an alarming 102% since February of this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Most concerning is the impact on young people. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than 25% of young adults seriously considered suicide earlier this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/69\/wr\/mm6932a1.htm?s_cid=mm6932a1_w\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nearly 63% reported anxiety or depression.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Business leaders have a responsibility to ensure the mental and physical wellbeing of their employees. The following organizations and resources can be distributed to managers and teams as we all work to support each other during these challenging times. <strong><em>Note: This list contains US Resources.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"Font__title Font__title--alt\">Suicide Prevention Resources<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/suicidepreventionlifeline.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National Suicide Prevention Lifeline<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provides confidential help 24 hours a day, seven days a week: <\/span><a href=\"tel:800-273-8255\"><strong>800-273-8255.<\/strong><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For help in Spanish, call <a href=\"tel:888-628-9454\"><strong>888-628-9454<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crisistextline.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crisis Text Line<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is available for any crisis and a crisis counselor will respond. <\/span>Text \u2018Home\u2019 to <a href=\"tel:741741\">741741<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/afsp.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American Foundation for Suicide Prevention<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provides referrals to support groups and mental health professionals, resources on loss, and suicide prevention information (<a href=\"tel:888-333-2377\">888-333-2377<\/a>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.appcalma.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Calma &#8211; una aplicaci\u00f3n para prevenir el suicidio<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an app in Spanish for help prevent suicide<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetrevorproject.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Trevor Project<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a suicide prevention organization for the LGBTQ community. <\/span><a href=\"tel:866-488-7386\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">866-488-7386<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.translifeline.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trans Lifeline<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a trans-led organization that connects trans people to support, and resources they need. <\/span><a href=\"tel:877-565-8860\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">877-565-8860<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"Font__title Font__title--alt\">Treatment Resources<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.samhsa.gov\/find-help\/national-helpline\">Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration<\/a> (SAMHSA) provides treatment information for substance abuse and mental health issues. 24\/7 referral and information line: <a id=\"anch_1447\" href=\"tel:18006624357\">1-800-662-HELP (4357)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/helpwhenyouneedit.org\/\">HelpWhenYouNeedIt.Org<\/a> over 350,000 listings for social services, mental health, substance use, legal and financial assistance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehotline.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The National Domestic Violence Hotline<\/a> provides 24\/7 crisis intervention, safety planning and information on domestic violence: <a href=\"tel:800-799-7233\">800-799-7233<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/askjan.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Job Accommodation Network<\/a> provides resources and guidance on workplace accommodations and disability employment issues.
