Metrics and Priority Integration FAQ<\/h1>\n

Overview<\/span><\/h1>\n

This article covers Metric creation, how to connect them to integrations, and how to update Priorities via these Metrics. For more specific information about the integrations available, check out the <\/span>Salesforce FAQ<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Zapier FAQ<\/span><\/a> articles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Use Metrics if you plan on tracking the same business metric in multiple places or over extended time periods.<\/p>\n

Metrics can be integrated with Salesforce or Zapier for automated updates.<\/p>\n

Priorities can be connected to Metrics. When connected, a change to the Metric will update the Priority, and vice versa. When a Metric is integrated to an external product like Salesforce or Zapier, any connected Priorities will also receive automated updates.<\/p>\n

Creating Metrics<\/span><\/h1>\n
    \n
  1. Go to the Metric page by clicking the icon in the left-hand navigation menu:<\/span>
    \n\"\"<\/li>\n
  2. Click \u201cAdd Metric\u201d:<\/span>
    \n\"\"<\/li>\n
  3. The Metric creation screen contains the following fields:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
    Field<\/b><\/td>\nDescription<\/b><\/td>\nRequired<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Metric Name<\/span><\/td>\nGive the Metric a name. Will be used to connect the Metric to other Align objects.<\/span><\/td>\nYes<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Unique Identifier<\/span><\/td>\nWill be generated from the Metric Name, but can be changed by the user. Required for connecting Metrics to external integrations.<\/span><\/td>\nYes<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Owner<\/span><\/td>\nDefaults to the current user.<\/span><\/td>\nYes<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Status<\/span><\/td>\nDefaults to \u201cActive\u201d. A status of \u201cDeprecated\u201d or \u201cInactive\u201d will disable it from being connected to Align objects.<\/span><\/td>\nYes<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Description<\/span><\/td>\nLeave a description to leave context about the Metric to the rest of your team. Description will appear on the Metrics page.<\/span><\/td>\nNo<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Value<\/span><\/td>\nThe current value of the Metric. Updated either by the user, or automatically if the Metric is connected to an external integration.<\/span><\/td>\nYes<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    KPI Unit<\/span><\/td>\nDefaults to \u201cTarget Count\u201d. Use this to better describe the format of the Metric.<\/span><\/td>\nYes<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Integration<\/span><\/td>\nDefaults to \u201cNone\u201d. If your account is connected to the Salesforce and Zapier integrations, these options are available as well.<\/span><\/td>\nNo<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
    Comments<\/span><\/td>\nUse the comments section to leave information about any interesting changes to the Metric value.<\/span><\/td>\nNo<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

    Connecting Metrics to an External Report Using Integrations<\/span><\/h1>\n

    Once a Metric is created, it can be updated automatically via Align\u2019s integrations with Salesforce and Zapier. <\/span>For more specific information about the integrations available and how to connect your account, check out the <\/span>Salesforce FAQ<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Zapier FAQ<\/span><\/a> articles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Connecting Priorities to Metrics<\/span><\/h1>\n

    Once your Metric is created, you connect it to Priorities in two ways:<\/span><\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    1. Via the \u201cSelect Value Source\u201d setting on the Priority Settings page:<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Note that you can also create a new Metric directly from the Priority as well by selecting “Create a new Metric…” from the dropdown.<\/p>\n

      2. You can also connect Priorities from the Metric page by clicking on the “Connections” link. This is a good option if you are\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0planning on connecting multiple Priorities to a single Metric.<\/p>\n

      From this screen you can connect existing Priorities, create new Priorities and connect them, or remove existing connections.<\/p>\n

      Once connected, a Priority\u2019s value will update when the Metric\u2019s value is updated. In this way, you can also connect your Priority\u2019s value updates to automatic updates via Salesforce and Zapier.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Priorities connected to integrated Metrics will display the integration’s icon:<\/p>\n
